Article
I
Brockport
College Republicans shall be an assembly of students and faculty who hold an
interest in the Republican Party and the public policies, people, and current
events that are associated with the party.
The
purpose of Brockport College Republicans is to provide a forum for the
discussion of Republican policies and current events. The Brockport College Republicans will provide information
and organize events that will increase awareness and involvement of SUNY College
at Brockport students in the Republican Party.
Membership
is open to all students who are members in good standing of BSG (i.e. who have
satisfactorily paid or been waived on the BSG activity fee).
The
Brockport College Republicans shall have four elected officers elected from and
by the membership, each officer to be a title of Chairman, Vice Chairman,
Treasurer, and Secretary.
The
duties of the officers shall include responsibility for holding club meetings,
correspondences of the club, direction of publicity, spokespersons for the club,
organization of major expenditures, allocation of responsibilities, and
commissioning elections.
Election
of new officers shall occur in the final weeks of spring semester of the
academic year. The term of office
shall be for the entire following academic year subsequent to the election.
In the event of vacancy of the position of chairman, the vice chairman
shall assume the office and a new vice chairman will be elected.
In the event of vacancy of positions of vice chairman, treasurer, or
secretary, a special election shall be held to fill the vacancy.
The nature of this election process shall be that of written ballot by
the club members, majority vote determining the election.
The
Brockport College Republicans shall meet on a weekly basis, at a time mutually
agreeable to a majority of interested members and the advisor.
At least one officer and two members shall constitute a meeting; a quorum
shall be determined by a majority of current members.
Additional committee meetings shall be held at any time agreeable to
committee members. The secretary
shall record minutes of all club meetings.
Amendments
to this constitution must be passed by a two-thirds vote of the members present
at any club meeting constituting a quorum.
All amendments are further subject to the approval of the BSG Board of
Directors.
Impeachment
of club officers (for such transgressions as gross negligence of duty,
misrepresentation of club policies and interests, extreme lack of participation,
etc.) must be initiated by a written summarization of any transgression attested
to by at least three club members. If
such a petition is present, a vote shall take place, two-thirds majority of
votes necessary for actual impeachment of the officer in question.
All impeachment proceedings are subject to review by BSG Student Court.
